Becoming Olive

In “Becoming Olive” a human seeks to be absorbed into a plant species native to her land of origin. She covers her body with the blood of an olive tree’s fruits and begins to spin, hanging from the tree’s branch, leading to an ecstatic state where she becomes yet another fruit. Told in two chapters, this work is inspired by hybrid bodies, interspecies connections and human fantasies of returning to nature in a new life form.
